The Powder Pop Revolution begins HERE
April 23rd 2004
Today's the big day for
all Mummypowder fans: the third Mummypowder album, 'Consternation!
Uproar!', is released and available in all the best
music stores as of today. One of our favourite record
stores, Stupido
Shop, freshly quoted the album as being 'the best
album of the best pop band in Finland', and Free
Record Shop, not wanting to be left behind, chose
it as their pick of the week. But what's truly
the best thing of all: just like the previous album,
this album's cheap. So no excuses, mate: go
get it while it's new.
Nyt
(17/04): **** 'Lehtinen's songs flow naturally,
and their structure is straight from the songwriter's
ABC' - Ilkka Mattila
Nöjesguiden

flowing indie-rock-pop album that also has sensitivity.
Mummypowder are absolutely one of the best English-singing
pop bands in Finland' - Matti Markkola

performed'

Right This Minute' -Jari Jokirinne

Lehtinen has written great traditional pop music before,
but this time Mummypowder have made a truly fine, classical
pop album' -JV

seems to be the best pop release this year so far' -Tomi

Powder pop at its best
April 7th 2004
Right, this is it now, this
time it's really happening: the third Mummypowder album,
'Consternation! Uproar!' will be released on 23rd
April. (And it will, because we're kindasorta determined
about this. No seriously, we are. Mummy says it's coming.)
'Classic' has only been one of the words to describe
this, in some people's opinion, 'groundbreaking' Finnish
powder pop record. Check out for yourself whether some
reviewers we're right to give the previous album, 'V.
Strange', only four stars out of five just because they
we're certain that this one would be even better.
Playing on a skateboard soudtrack
is not a crime
March 17th 2004
Mummies' music will be featured
on the soundtracks of two forthcoming TV/Movie
productions: Melodica
Skateboards are releasing a skate-DVD titled 'Bird
Songs' in April, with some tracks from Mummypowder and
Treeball,
(who've already appeared on a snowboarding
and skiing movie before this) included. Later this
year, Yle
TV2 are showing a TV series called 'Laura' where
you can spot some very strange music - songs from the
second Mummy album 'V. Strange', that is.
March 14th 2004
Bing! You're hypnotized!
We all knew it would be special, but the new
Hypnomen
album 'Crystal Skies' (Stupido
Records) is even more so: witness Janne Powder singing
on a track called 'Love Gone Bad' on the new album,
out soon.
This time we're serious
March 10th 2004
This is slowly turning into
a habit now, but the record release date for the third
Mummypowder album has been moved again... 'Consternation!
Uproar!' is coming out mid-April instead of 25th March.
Sorry... final dates announced ASAP.
Nice pick
March 9th 2004
The
Orchard, the largest distributor of independent
music in the world, has chosen The second Mummypowder
album, 'V. Strange', as their 'Staff Pick of the week'.
A great critical success, several reviewers in various
papers and websites ranked 'V. Strange' one of their
favourite Finnish albums of the year 2003.

OK, you can breath now
February 26th 2004
The first single to be released
from the upcoming Mummypowder album titled 'Consternation!
Uproar!' is now officially out in the wild. Turn your
radio on and wait patiently; you might hear 'Don't Hold
Your Breath' swimming the radiowaves into your consciousness
soon enough...
Still alive
February 3rd 2004
Yes, we know, it's been
awfully quiet 'round here for a while now, but that's
just because we've been busy finishing the album many
of you have so eagerly been waiting for since the last
one completely changed the course of your lives. The
new Mummypowder album, 'Consternation! Uproar!' will
be available for you to grab and hold in your sweaty
hands from all the finest record shops around Finland
on 25th of March, 2004. (Yes, we know that in some cultures
25th of March doesn't exactly mean 'the beginning of
february' which is what we said earlier.) And that's
not all: you will also be able to review and purchase
this (as well as the previous) Mummypowder album from
Apple's
iTunes Music Store, as well as many other online
music stores within your reach. Oh, almost forgot: this
is what it sounds like.
A very strange year it was
January 4th 2004
Nöjesguiden
ranks the second Mummypowder album, 'V. Strange', number
10 on their Finnish album of the year 2003 list. The
review average for the album from various papers, magazines
and web sites totalled at 4.3 out of 5 stars - although
people who have heard the third album rate it even higher!
There'll be no stopping the mummies in 2004...
