Masters
of the Mummyverse
December 21st 2003
The third Mummypowder album
'Consternation! Uproar!' has now been mastered and after
test listenings and finishing the cover art is ready
for press... Exact release date to be confirmed, but
beginning of February is looking likely.
In their spare time
November 18th 2003
Mummies' other projects
at this moment include Treeball
(Aleksi - bass and Janne - drums), who have their second
album, a follow-up to last year's 'Strawberry
Blonde School of Class', coming out in February,
and Astrid
Swan's band (Janne - bass), who are making their
debut performance at Tavastia
with the Danish band Mew
on Sunday, 7th December. The gig has unfortunately been
sold out already, but the rumor has it that you might
just be able to grab a copy of the Treeball album when
it hits the store shelves in the first weeks of February
if you're fast. Better start saving those pennies now,
as the third Mummypowder album 'Consternation! Uproar!'
is scheduled for release around the same time...
Mixed feelings
November 11th 2003
Today's cause for celebration:
the mixing of the third Mummypowder album, 'Consternation!
Uproar!', was finished on monday 10th November 2003.
Expect a February 2004 release of a Finnish pop classic.
Summer's gone
October 16th 2003
...But there are some great
highlights for this coming long, cold winter: the third
Mummypowder album 'Consternation! Uproar!' will be mixed
in Hollola between November 1st and 10th; the
web diary of the album's recording will be updated
(depending on the net facilities at Hollola.) A tour
is being planned after the scheduled February 2004 release,
nearly five years after the debut album came out...
(How time flies!) Meanwhile, be sure to catch the Mummies
live in Jyväskylä and Helsinki with the marvellous
Kevin
on what's left of this year's mind-blowing 'V. Strange'-tour.
All work and no play
June 16th 2003
The recording of the next Mummypowder album
titled 'Consternation! Uproar!' was finished last friday.
The album will be mixed sometime after this summer and
is planned to be released in the beginning of 2004.
The rough mixes are sounding rather good to say the
least... To quote outside sources: this album will be
nothing short of a classic. Meanwhile, the latest issue
of Sue Magazine
mentions the current Mummypowder album 'V. Strange'
as being 'a possible Finnish album of the year'.

Helsinki's
number one
May
27th 2003
'A modern classic that, with any justice,
will turn into a genuine evergreen'. That's what Radio
Helsinki's Axa Sorjanen had to say about 'I Will
Wait', the third track from Mummypowder's latest album
'V. Strange'.
The song has gotten a
fair amount of play on the channel.

the mummy vocalist Janne.
Third album in the works
May 19th 2003
This time it'll take
considerably less than four years - the wait between
the last and the next Mummypowder album, that is. The
third album is already being worked on, and the band
will spend the first half of June in studio recording
the third album, which is likely to come out in early
2004. The album will be produced by Nick Triani, who
also produced the first mummy album. Further details
will be revealed later. Janne will be writing a
diary on how the project is progressing.
Scandinavian rock riot
May 19th 2003
Today it was confirmed
that Mummypowder are supporting Kashmir
(DK) at Tavastia (Helsinki, FI) on monday, May 26th.
Tickets are ten euros, and there are still a few left,
so go get yours now! Kashmir's latest album 'Zitilites'
came out on May 12th, so they beat the mummies by four
days. D'oh!
'V.
Strange' out
May 18th 2003
The second Mummypowder
album, 'V. Strange' was released on friday, May 16th,
and is already available in some stores for a low price
of under twelve euros. Reasons not to buy are:
1. I already have an extra copy of the album, but no
friends to give it to
2. It's sunday and the record stores are closed
3. I only like crap music
Radio interview
May 12th 2003
Janne from Mummypowder
will appear on Radio Helsinki's 'Mahtavaa Helsinki mahtavaa'-show
on thursday 15th between 3-5PM on the eve of the release
of the second Mummypowder album, 'V. Strange'. Tune
your radio to 95.2 MHz or listen via internet at www.radiohelsinki.fi.
Plastic surgery

The web page has
taken a shower and had its hair cut. Check
the tracklisting of the new album, 'V. Strange',
or hear
a clip from the album.
Single: 'Trying to Ride a Donkey'
May 9th 2003
The first single from the new album (promotional
only, unfortunately), 'Trying to Ride a Donkey', has
been released and was already sent out to some radio
stations. Check Radio
Helsinki's Top 100 (May 14th to 21st 2003) to see
whether they liked the song or not.
'V. Strange' finished
May 4th 2003
The second mummypowder
album titled 'V. Strange' was finished last week when
backing vocals (female backing vocals, by the way) on
the album's title track we're recorded and the whole
album was mixed, mastered, the cover art finished and
the whole package sent to be printed. The album is expected
to hit the first store shelves on May 16th 2003, which
is the official release date. The price of the album
will be around 11 euros. The band will celebrate the
release of the album by playing a gig at Semifinal (Hki)
on the date of the release.
Very strange... The second
Mummypowder album announced
March 14th 2003
The release date
for the second Mummypowder album has been set: The album
titled 'V. Strange' will be out on 16th May 2003. Recording
for the album is expected to be finished by the end
of April.
Twenty percent cut on the personnel
March 14th 2003
Ville Alajuuma isn't
an active member of Mummypowder anymore... This is because
he found even the loudest of his keyboards was too quiet
to compete with Janne's and Staffan's scarily loud guitars
live. Luckily, he's likely to still appear on records!
